Purchasing first car - Dealership is offering to match down payment

Inexperienced car buyer here. Looking to purchase my first car. This dealership has an offer that is honestly too good to be true. They are offering to match up to 5k on your down payment towards the sticker price. So essentially a 30k vehicle would be 20k.. probably a bit more after taxes. A 40k would be 30 .. you get the point. I have been doing a lot of research, and I have a list of fees/items that you can negotiate/should be removed from your worksheet when they draw up the final numbers.

  1. Can you request the dealer to remove "protection packages"? Someone recently posted that the dealer stated they are "nonremovable," which is crazy to me. If anything, can you negotiate them?
  2. Can someone review this list of things I'm looking out for and see if it checks out
  3. Also, any advice scripts on how to negotiate via phone - I honestly am looking to purchase soon, but I can stretch to the end of the month (September)
  • Never pay destination fees on used cars (only on new cars)
  • Never pay advertisement fees/marketing fees (dealerships get reimbursed for this)
  • Never pay for Threat protection/VIN Etching
  • Never pay for Nitrogen tires (by volume, the air we breathe every day has more than 78% nitrogen - nitrogen tires are for hitting the racetrack)
  • Never pay for credit life insurance (scam)
  • Ask for removal of dealer prep (not worth it they have to get the cars ready anyway)
  • Never pay a processing fee over $300
  • Don't pay for paint protection (it is literally a guy spraying a solution on your car then washing it off - from research I have seen)
  • Don't pay for GPS tracking
  • Don't pay for wheel protection
  • Don't pay for ADM or LOA
