Do run-flat tires lower mpg?

Some of the new models no longer offer spare tires in the trunk; just a little emergency kit.

That said, I drive far enough to work and home every day that as I consider a new car, I'm contemplating run-flat tires. But do they lower MPG? (leaving to a hybrid SUV).
