Children’s (Scary?) illustrated book that had multiple stories

Hey folks, this book would have been from the 90s or early 2000s. It was a book about monsters, seem to remember trolls possibly being a big theme. The illustration style was like nothing I have seen since, very colourful maybe somewhat similar to the gruffalo. I remember it being like a collection of stories, mostly short stories with accompanying illustrations. I don’t really have much other information to help and I know that’s quite vague.
