What the heck am I looking at????

I'm at a loss. My friend is an archaeologist and knows my affinity for fun rocks and crystals. Last night we were discussing my love for rocks and the way they feel and how beautiful they are because I had given her a chunk of obsidian that a friend had given me. It was a pretty small chip but it was beautiful. She then proceeds to tell me that she has an obsidian that she found while she was out working and hands it to me. She saw how excited I was and gifted it to me. It was a softball-sized obsidian with what looked like Amber or citrine inclusions. So of course, being the nosy Nelly that I was, I took it home immediately wrapped it in a soft towel and hit it with a hammer. This is what I found inside. I have no idea. She says it is absolutely obsidian, but I always understood that obsidian was either black all the way through and very opaque or black with gray marbling. I know there's different kinds of obsidian so I'm trying to figure out if that's what this is.
