The image became widely recognized, and Borders became known as "The Dust Lady." She passed away from cancer on 08/24/2015.

TIL Capsaicin is most concentrated in the tissues surrounding the seeds, and it triggers taste receptors found in birds and mammals. But it also stimulates a certain kind of pain receptor found in mammals but not in birds, and that’s why birds have no adverse reaction to eating peppers.

TIL in 2017 a couple survived a wildfire in California by jumping into a neighbors pool and staying submerged for 6 hours. They came up for air only when they needed to, using wet t-shirts to shield their faces from falling embers.
