Opinions on Eden Lake (2008)

I just watched Eden Lake for the first time, and I have to admit that I loved it. It left me speechless, both from the utter depravity and its social commentary/viewpoint. I definitely understand how it can be controversial, given the unsatisfying ending and its bias against the lower class. But I thought it was so well made and genuinely horrifying. Some of the kids deaths made me cry, you could tell that peer pressure and parental abuse shaped them to do horrible things, but deep down they were just children, and you saw their innocence in all of their death scenes. I think it’s uncomfortable yet fitting that Jennie did not make it out alive, because as long as the parents continue this behavior, there is no escaping the cycle of abuse. Personally I thought it was very well made, I’d like to hear your opinions
