Do you ever feel that when there’s “junk food” in the house, you should eat it all to get rid of it?
I’ve been there and can relate, but you don’t need to do this because you can lose body fat while eating “junk food” as long as you’re working it into your daily calorie goals and still getting enough protein/nutrient-dense foods.
When you feel like something is off limits, you fall into behaviours like trying to eat the entire tub of ice cream to get rid of it so you can get back on track.
When you initially start to include fun foods in moderation, controlling yourself may feel weird and difficult.
HOWEVER, two things will happen:
1 - Over time, you’ll see results while eating things like ice cream, which will make you realize you can be more flexible, which will make you feel less guilty, which helps with self-control.
2 - You won’t feel deprived of delicious foods like ice cream, so your brain won’t scream, “Let’s eat this entire thing while we have the chance!”
Whatever you do to lose body fat HAS to be something you can keep up long term if you want to maintain the results. By eating treats in moderation, you’re learning balance, which is CRUCIAL for long-term fat loss maintenance.
As someone who used to yo-yo diet the same 20-25 lbs over and over for YEARS, achieving this kind of flexibility was SUCH a game changer so I'm hoping this will help someone else who is in need of this type of advice!!
Does anyone else relate to this struggle?
