Failed Molt?!?

This is the first I have ever seen of anything like this In our tank. We got him on Dec. 30 with an order from Swimming Creatures (ALL ARRIVED ALIVE... THEY EVEN TRAVELLED OVER THE WEEKEND! YAY!!!)
Anyway, upon inspection, I think this is a failed molt, but I am curious about the red color. He was 100% dark blue before. The rest of the shrimp seem to be healthy and doing fine. None of the others seem to be molting or at molt stage, but most did in transport or within 24 hours in their new home.

P.S. my daughter pulled him from the tank thinking he had already died... She dropped him on the floor and that's when it curled. Figured if it was failed molt it would die anyway, and if it was a disease, infection or bacteria, I don't want him back in the tank anyway!
