Ok there is a lot to unpack here but insinuating you need to spend 60k for a Camry to handle decently is absurd. Almost as absurd of you also trying to make the case that an RC350 is some kind of canyon carving marvel. Yes it can be called “sporty” but it is not a “sports car”. If OP’s budget is 60k then we could be talking about many different cars but I was simply implying that for 30k you could get into a new car and lean as you see fit into either “practicality” or “fun and sportiness”. Sure a 350 has 100 more hp than an 86 but it’s also almost a thousand pounds heavier. Also their 0-60 is within half a second. I’ve already conceded that it’s the OP’s money and each person is free to do as they wish but I was just advising to maybe check some other options before committing to a car like that.

Funny that you mention the GR86 because I went to go test drive a new BRZ and you are correct in a lot of what you said. I liked driving the car but there are some things that the RC is just better at. First off the BRZ is loud. The interior is also just way better on the RC and it’s also just a more comfortable ride. Also despite it being that much heavier it was still quicker. Not by much but you could feel the torque down low was better which for the street that’s what you want. I did the numbers and money wise they are comparable with the caveat being new vs used. The BRZ is still on the back of my mind but I haven’t been able to pull the trigger because it’s new. At that point I wonder if getting a 2020ish Civic SI coupe and save over 10k would be better.

Just my 2 cents but If you’re going to spend 30k why not buy a brand new Camry or something? A 7 year old car with 80k seems crazy to me especially if it’s your sole vehicle. To each their own but that money could be spent on cars more fun and a lot newer depending on your needs. Good luck and there’s definitely sites to help you decide if your at least in the ball park for fair price.

While I do agree with most of what you said, the problem is that the market doesn’t agree with it. I’ve looked and 30k is the price for a base Camry new these days. I’ve been following the market for the last three years or so and while things have come down, it seems like the days of reasonably priced cars are over.
