We were out for happy hour at the wharf at one of the bars that overlooks the river and it just caught my eye. Reassure people that failure is acceptable. In my agency, innovation is stifled because people are so afraid to fail because the consequence is terrible. Ironically, the failure rate goes way up but leadership finds ways to spin it into a limp across the finish line win. Some people are just not innovative. But encourage new ideas. Explore them. Let people take them out for spins without committee discussions. And even in failure, take what good you can from it. Good luck.
