For nearly 1000 years, from the 7th century to 17th century, various Deccan kings used the Varaha (Boar Avatar) as their Royal Emblem, usually accompanied with sun, crescent moon, and dagger. This includes the Chalukyas, Kakatiyas, and Vijanayagar, whose iconography all shows remarkable continuity.
